Wesley Eugene Moore

“You are a King!” No words are more fitting to describe our beloved Wesley Eugene Moore. This description came from a nurse, who could not believe the sheer amount of people coming to be by our Patriarch’s side as he neared his final days. Truly, he was one of the wealthiest men on earth and even more so in the life to come. He followed the teachings of Christ, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth; But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Those treasures are the family he left, and the lives he blessed. He passed December 25th, 2022. The day we celebrate the birth of his King.

He was born November 10th, 1937, in Bisbee to Carl Wesley and Irene Cutler (Chapman) Moore. Wesley is survived by a loving wife Sharon (Cluff) whom he met in high school. Always a hard worker, he was one of the few young men at the high school who could afford to own a car. To hear Sharon describe him, “I just couldn’t help but love him.” They were married and had had six beautiful children, whom he loved and cherished very much. Diane and Vaughn Durfee, Michael and Patricia Moore, Brian and Missy Moore, Marc and Michelle Moore, Cindi and Bob Waite, and Randy and Tiffany Moore. All of whom followed in the footsteps of their father, with lives dedicated to loving their Savior and their spouses. These strong families set the framework for 27 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest sister Judy Barney. Wesley is predeceased by his parents as well as siblings Johnny Moore, Donald Moore and Nancy Conklin.

His oldest son described his father as a hero, and as one of the greatest leaders he has ever known. Not a man to say much, but to lead by example. He wouldn’t shy away from hard labor and was never too proud to help and lift another. A defender of the weak. A man who cherished with his entire soul, his wife, the love of his life. Their marriage and relationship have often been described by us descendants as something to aspire to.

Hunting fishing and holding Grandma’s hand were always his favorite pastimes. His best friend Ned and him spent many years chasing bucks and catching fish all over Arizona. He passed that love of the outdoors on to his boys, who continue this tradition with their families.

We know that we will see him again someday. And that this time is just a brief period of physical separation. We thank God for our Savior Jesus Christ and His birth, and victory over death. We appreciate that this holiday season will always be a celebration of Jesus Christ, and of the person who embodied his example most in our lives.
