, 39, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 8, 2018.
Theresa was born in Buffalo, New York on July 19, 1979 and grew up in Hornell, NY, graduating from Alfred-Almond Central School. She earned a degree in recreational therapy at the University of Idaho and a Master’s of Science Management from New England College. She worked as a counselor and mentor for troubled youth, a recreational therapist, and most recently as a Contract Specialist for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Phoenix, Arizona.
Theresa and her husband, Kevin, loved the West, living for a time in Idaho and in Utah. They moved to Baltimore and were gifted with their son, but soon moved as a family back West to Arizona. Teri, as she was known to friends and family, enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking and found peace when surrounded by nature.
Teri was a devoted mother. She showed great courage, resiliency and irrepressible spirit as she lived with chronic health issues and, recently, defeated breast cancer. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace.
Theresa was predeceased by grandparents, Robert and Beulah James, and Anson Baschmann.
She is survived by her husband Kevin, son Clay, mother Donna, father Daniel (Catherine), sisters Jennifer (Adam) and Jaclyn (Brian), grandmother Harriet, two nieces and two nephews, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral for friends and family will be held in Friendship, NY at 1pm on December 8, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church.
