Robert Barclay Dulaney

Robert Barclay Dulaney, 12/8/1930 – 8/21/2019

Bob was a survivor and a man of quick wit that enjoyed making people laugh.  He almost died at 19 when hit by a drunk driver as he was Christmas caroling with his youth group.  It was predicted that he would never walk again if he survived.  Against all odds and with over 50 surgeries, he not only survived and walked, but thrived and resonated faith, family, and fun for 69 more years.  On 8/21/19, Robert Dulaney passed away peacefully at his residence and will suffer no more.

Bob was born in Ohio and graduated from Hanover College in Indiana and McCormick Theological Seminary in Illinois. As a Presbyterian minister he made a difference in his congregation, community, mission and youth programs through sometimes out-of- the-ordinary methods. Although he was tone deaf, he fostered youth music programs traveling throughout Arizona and California.  Despite pins, screws and bolts in his legs; he coached Little League with his sons and enjoyed playing golf.  He was talented with building, carving, poetry, painting, needlepoint, gardening, and crafts which he did while watching sports on TV.  When not working, he liked to travel, especially in an RV to see the country or to Disneyland.  Most of all, he valued spending time with his family, especially his devoted wife, Joyce Dulaney, whom he loved dearly.  They met 65 years ago during one of his stays at a hospital, where she was a nurse.  He was loved deeply and will be missed greatly, but remembered always for his life advice, service, concern for others, and sense of humor.  We know he’s probably cracking jokes with his parents, brothers, sisters and Jesus right now!

He is survived by: his wife, Joyce Dulaney; his children – Kristie Dulaney, Kevin (Kathy) Dulaney, Kelly (Tanya) Dulaney, and Kirk (Grace) Dulaney; 12 grandchildren; 3+ great grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Robert Dulaney will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7600 Paseo del Norte, Tucson, AZ.   In lieu of flowers, memorial  gifts/donations may be made
