Thomas Matthew Hart

was born on July 27

, 1968 in Bayshore, New York. He entered heaven on August 12

, 2021 at the age of 53 in Chandler, AZ, after a short illness.

Tom grew up in Oakdale, NY and was a bright light from the moment his life began. He went to college at University of Buffalo where he was a competitive swimmer and a chemical engineering major.  He always cherished his friends, and he always made time for an annual Buffalo Bills football reunion with his best buddies.

On October 23, 1993, he married Melissa, his soul mate and best friend, in Charleston, WV. Together, they had two sons, Alexander and Austin, and Tom was crazy proud of them. Family was everything to Tom. He was an amazing husband, father, and role model and was very active in his sons’ lives. Alex and Austin are his greatest legacy as they are both very like their dad – men of God, sweet, caring, and bright souls.

Tom was also a dedicated, loyal hard worker, always giving 200%. He spent 24 years at Honeywell in a variety of leadership and business management roles. Most recently he served as the Vice President of Air & Thermal Systems (A&TS) Global Business Enterprise for Honeywell Aerospace. He also led the Defense & Space business, and the Honeywell Aerospace Trading business during his career. In addition to his experience at Honeywell, Tom held sales and leadership positions at Witco Chemical Corporation and Union Carbide (now part of Dow Chemical).

Tom was a servant leader throughout his career, leading with compassion and humility. Because he was a great listener and truly cared for people, he was a special mentor and coach for employees too numerous to count. His many career awards and accolades include the prestigious CEO Premier Achievement Award for Honeywell, as well as the Gold Business Enterprise (GBE) of the year for all of Honeywell in 2020.

Tom’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, both at home and on vacations that were full of adventure. But he was also an avid swimmer and runner, and completed three Ironman Triathlons. He and his family are active members of Compass Christian Church where Tom often volunteered and was part of a close church family.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa, their two sons Alexander Thomas Hart and Austin Maxwell Hart, his mother Linda Hart and sisters Suzann Carey, Janice Winter, Diane Menier and their spouses as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. His father, Noel Hart and brother, Kyle Hart preceded him in death.

Rather than sending flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tom’s name to either the Tonto Search & Rescue, (

www.trsar.org

) located near Pine AZ, or to the Take Pride Project in Pine & Strawberry, AZ that is dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and western heritage of the Rim Country (Take Pride, PO Box 1204, Pine AZ 85544). The family chose these organizations because they spent so much quality time together at their mountain cabin in Pine, Arizona. Tom loved the cabin where he was able to enjoy their family time in beautiful natural surroundings, where he felt most at peace and closest to his God.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:00pm PST at Compass Christian Church at 1825 S. Alma School Road in Chandler, AZ 85286. This service will also be live streamed on the Compass Christian Church Facebook Page at:
