Sandra K. Palmer
, 76 of Queen Creek, Arizona, formerly of Hiawatha, Iowa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 9, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center, Gilbert Arizona. Her remains were cremated and there will be a private graveside service at a later date.
Sandy was born Aug. 11, 1943 in Hampton, IA, daughter of Donna M. Pfaltzgraff. She married Walter L. Palmer on May 18, 1968. They spent the first 16 years in Iowa before transplanting to Arizona. Sandy fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse in 1979. She lovingly took care of thousands of patients until her health required her to retire in 2006. She continued to care for those around her until her death.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; children, Jeffrey (Deanna), Lori (Phillip) von Micka-Reichenberg and Michelle (Ken) Bell; 5 grandchildren, Brandon (Miranda) Bell, Travis (Shelly) Cervantes, Lisa (Cody) Weber, Joshua (Danielle) Palmer and Caleb Palmer; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Gary (Marlene) Hendricks, Mary Kirkpatrick and Paul (Laurel) Spurgeon; sister-in-law, Rosie Allinger; several nieces and nephews; and her very loved pup, Lexi.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Donna and Don Tuel; her parent in-laws, Walter Palmer Sr., Haroldine and Gerald Topper; her grandparents, Howard and Cora Pfaltzgraff; and beloved pets Cassie and Sami.
Memorial donations can be made to one of Sandra’s favorite charities; ASPCA, Covenant House or the Red Cross, or to an animal rescue or shelter of your choice.
