Rita Mae Scrivner

Rita Mae Scrivner, a beloved mother, teacher, and community volunteer, passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 93. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, met her husband while receiving a bachelor’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University. Rita dedicated her life to her husband Bob and raising two sons, teaching high school in her early years and then working for both a doctor’s office and one the largest florists in Chicago. She moved to Arizona after the passing of her husband in 1996. Her passion and commitment to her community were evident in the variety of organizations she participated in, most notably the quilting and travel clubs at Sun Bird Community as well as bereavement coordinator for St. Steven’s Catholic Church in Sun Lakes, AZ. Those who encountered her would likely list her personal independence and take-charge personality as how she was very effective at accomplishing goals for whatever organization she joined. For the time in which she lived, she did many things that most women did not ordinarily attempt, well before most.

Rita's contributions as a community leader were equally remarkable. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rita will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her life. Preceded by her husband Bob, she leaves son David, his wife Jen and their daughter Ashley and her fiancé Holt, son Tom, his wife Donna and their children Tyler, Stephen and Sarah and her husband TJ.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225.
