Philip Sullivan, 55, of Phoenix, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 after a brief battle with gastric carcinoma. Phil or “Tiger” as his family called him was born in Malden, MA to Philip and Madeline Sullivan and called Billerica, MA home throughout his childhood.
Phil is survived by his wife Amanda, his beloved son Philip III (Trey), his sister Madeline Capano (Tom Sullivan), his brothers Robert Sullivan, Edward Sullivan (Suanne) and John Sullivan. He is also survived by his in-laws (whom he considered family for 30 years) Jane, Ed, Jeremy and Kevin Burris. Phil leaves behind a multitude of nieces - Jessica, Jennifer, Kaitlin, Victoria and Jayani and nephews Albert, Andre “Robbie”, Edward and Demetrius as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Phil moved to the Tampa Bay area in Florida in 1992. In 1994, he met the love of his life, Amanda. Together, they built a life together which included lots of travel (cruising was a favorite), golfing, bowling and hanging out with friends and family. In 2012, Trey entered their lives and forever changed their family dynamic. Phil was overjoyed at having a son and spent every single night reading with Trey – story time was a must! In 2019, the family made the difficult decision to leave their roots in Florida to move to Phoenix. In Phoenix, the family found a community of friends, neighbors and coworkers that have become indispensable.
Phil was a PROUD Registered Nurse for the Phoenix Veteran’s Hospital (by way of Bay Pines VA). He found comfort in providing care to those who needed it, connecting with his patients and making a difference in people’s lives. His co-workers became extended family and, because of them, he enjoyed going to work.
Phil will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him but especially by his wife, son and family.
