Ophelia Escobedo Beggs
, passed on to join God on Wednesday the 22
nd
of June, 2016.
She was born on February 27, 1936 in San Jose, AZ. Ophelia was educated with her High School Diploma in Clifton, AZ, and attended Lamson Business College and Beauty School.
Ophelia loved to bake and cook; her specialties were Tamales, Cheese Enchiladas, Cheese Biscuits and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. She made sure everyone had something to eat, even the birds in her front yard and the little black cat that always knew he could count on her for one good meal a day. You could say that she ran a “Soup Kitchen” out of her home.
She always remembered little details of our lives: birthdays, vacations, graduations, new job opportunities, even something as little as getting new tires.
One of her passions was talking on the telephone and making sure everyone was updated with the latest gossip, news and weather; even though we may have heard days before already. She may have called a little too much sometimes, but could always hold an entertaining and wholesome conversation. If she were able to text or email, all of our inboxes would be full…
We will always miss the days of walking through that little metal fence, only to be welcomed by Ophelia sitting on her couch, usually with a western or novella playing quietly on her little TV in the background.
Ophelia was the only girl of five children; she was spoiled.
Ophelia is survived by her daughter, Roseann; her two grandchildren, Jonathan and William; her brother, Albert and his Family; her brother, Ernest and his Family; her Sister-in-Law, Guadalupe and her Family; her Sister-in-Law, Josephine and her Family; and the many other loved ones whose hearts were touched by her unconditional love.
Every Saturday, when Ophelia would go to the grocery store and see our Phoenix Fire Department asking for donations, she would make sure to drop a $5 bill into their boot. In loving memory of Ophelia, let’s not let those boots go without a bill in her name.
Bueler Mortuary in Chandler, AZ and Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa, AZ have been entrusted with arrangements.
