Nellie Ortega

Nellie (mema) Ortega passed away peacefully in her Chandler, AZ  home, on October 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Anastasio and Cornelia Ortega; brothers John, Richard and Esteban Ortega; sisters Josephine Gutierrez, Lucy Fimbres and Connie Aguilar. 

She was born in Chandler, AZ on Febuary 14, 1923. She was one of eight children, she had 3 sisters and 4 brothers. They all lived in a small neighborhood called Pueblo Alto. She had many occupations throughout her life. The last job she had was working in the kitchen of Kyrene Del Sureno Elementary School. This is the one she loved the most. 

She is survived by her brother Cheno Ortega and numerous other family members. She loved God, her family and friends. She was a true angel on earth and beautiful soul. She will be greatly missed. 

Nellie’s services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. Andrew The Apostle Catholic Church, located at 3450 W. Ray Road, Chandler, AZ 85226. A Visitation will be held at 9:45 AM with a Rosary at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10: 30 AM. Interment will follow the service at 12:30 PM at Valley of the Sun Cemetery located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248.
