Neil Richard Martin was born on 15th February 1955 in Ealing London, the second of three sons to John and Bridget Martin. He passed away on 20
th
August 2020. He was a much loved son, and brother to Paul and Julian, and uncle to Jonny, Helen, and Kathryn.
Neil was extremely close to his family in London, and treasured his time with them when he returned for visits. Duffy’s Bar would often be the venue for a good catch up! He formed a very loving bond with his great nephew and niece, George and Isabella and they will treasure the time spent with Neil in February this year.
Neil was entrepreneurial and during his time in London he was highly successful in the IT consultancy business, and owned a number of properties in West London. During the early 1990’s Neil relocated to the United States, firstly to Tucson and then Chandler, which became his home. He loved life in America and married twice. His surviving stepchildren Michael and Rubie held a very special place in his heart.
Neil was full of contradictions – loud but quiet, opinionated but able to listen, strong but also highly sensitive. He was well read, you would often see him drinking a pint with his head in a book. Whilst there were times when Neil wanted to be by himself, he was far from quiet! He was funny with a fantastic, wicked, and wild sense of humour, and boy when he wanted to, he could party! In his younger years, he lived life to the full, including bellowing out his support for the English National Rugby team every year at Twickenham (the home of Rugby). As family and friends will know, if you made it past the barrier that Neil presented to the world, then you found a fun, sensitive, kind, loyal and caring soul.
A memorial service will be held at Bueler Chandler Mortuary in Chandler AZ on Saturday 5
th
September 2020 at 12:00 Noon. If you can attend,
please come to celebrate a life lived.
