Born in Bloomington, Illinois, on July 2, 1963, to Fred and Carol Gustoff. Mark developed a keen interest in computers and ham radios from an early age. Never shy of a project he built his first ham radio in middle school and first computer in High School. His largest project growing up was the expansion and remodel the family farm.

Mark loved his Amateur Radio and was first licensed in 1981, with the call sign WO7T (Whiskey Oscar Seven Tango). His main interest was communicating with HAMS globally using Morse code on radios he built himself. He was very active in local ham clubs and also served as a mentor to aspiring HAMS.

As a teenager, Mark started his employment journey by tasseling corn and harvesting Christmas trees in Illinois. After completing junior College, he moved to Arizona to pursue a Computer Science degree at Arizona State University.

Mark’s professional life was diverse and impactful. He began his career at GTE, where he first met his wife Tyla. After about three years he left to become a US Merchant Marine Officer where he would spend the next year at sea. When he returned, he devoted the next 26 years moving from a Senior Engineer at Intel to a Divisional CIO at Healthways. Throughout his time in leadership, he was known as not only a proficient and charismatic leader but a friend to many of his colleagues.

Throughout his years of fatherhood Mark would enjoy many memories with his two sons, ranging from mini golfing, go karting, camping, swimming and watching all the Star War films. He also would go on to explore numerous places with his family including: Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, and Florida.

In 2015 Mark retired and embraced a fulfilling life centered around family and friends. He enjoyed daily calls with his mom while walking the dog, dinners with Tyla, and vacations with his loved ones. His friends also made a huge impact with Friday lunches with his HAM club, Euchre nights, and numerous celebrations (birthdays, NYE, Costume parties).
