Marilyn M Krick

August 5, 1931 — October 10, 2024

Marilyn Krick (93) passed peacefully in her home on October 10, 2024, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born to Tom and Ella Wilson on August 5, 1931, in Elkton, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm and attended public school in Elkton and graduated from Elkton H.S. in 1948.

Marilyn met George Thielen at a wedding dance in Elkton and they were married on June 13, 1951. They moved to Sioux Falls and had two children John and Susan. Marilyn was a homemaker until she was widowed when George died from a bout with cancer in 1953.

She then moved back to Elkton to live with her parents. Marilyn then was introduced, through friends, to Robert Krick. They were married on July 31, 1958. They moved to Pipestone, MN where they had four children together Kay, Jim, Janet and Carol. Bob was busy with his contracting business and Marilyn was kept busy raising the kids. In 1975 Marilyn and Bob moved the family to Chandler, AZ. She immediately liked the Arizona desert and really loved the Sedona area.

Throughout her life mom was always focused on family. She referred to the many events that were always happening as “family doings”. Marilyn was a wonderful maternal figure for her entire family — from her chocolate chip cookies and “Aunt Marilyn bars”, countless games of Five Crown, she went above and beyond to show her love for all. Faith was a pillar in mom’s life. She converted to Catholicism when she married George. She always demonstrated her faith with involvement with church organizations in Elkton, Pipestone and Chandler. At different points in her life mom was involved with Helping Hands, Altar Society, and the gift shop at St. Mary’s Parish.

Marilyn was preceded in death by husbands, George Thielen and Robert Krick and daughters, Susan Krick and Kay Ryan.

She is survived by her children: John Krick (partner Annette), Jim Krick (Sylvia), son-in-law John Ryan, Janet Niederstadt (Ron), and Carol Krick. Grandchildren: Claire Teller (Todd), Kelsey Brown (Will), Patrick Ryan, Kaleb Krick (Briana), Owen Ryan (Audrey), Spencer Niederstadt, Heidi Niederstadt, Kendall Krick, and Paul Ryan. Great Grandchildren: Everett, Brenton, Lucy Mae, Brynlee, Helena, Lincoln, Lachlan, and one great granddaughter on the way.

Marilyn was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. It truly was a life well lived.
