Marian Elizabeth Mercer, 91
of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away on May 10, 2016. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 5, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen & Frederick B. Macdonald, both native Nebraskans. She was also preceded by sisters, Louisa Elwell and Ann Weatherford and a niece Cary Reilly. Marian’s husband, Sam died in 1997. Marian was a veteran of W.W.II as a member of the U.S. Navy (Waves). A graduate of the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, honorary societies of SPURS, and PI LAMNDA THETA. She did graduate studies at University of Southern California, University of Alaska, and N.M Western. Taught in schools in Hatch & Las Cruces N.W. and in Alaska where she was a lifetime member of the Alaska P.T.A. Marian lived in Alaska from 1952-1982, moving to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1982. In 1993, moved to Sun Lakes, AZ, where she attended Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hobbies of golf, swimming, bowling, and photography. Marian is survived by nieces Caryl Maniscalco, Donna Sullivan and Tracy Hawkins, Nephews Robert Elwell, Stan Weatherford, Matthew Maniscalco, and David Boies III, also Cousins Joan and Don Muehlilch of Schuyler, Nebraska, and members of the LAU and JUNGE families of Nebraska. Interment will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Any remembrances can be made to your favorite church or charity.
