Lyle Charles "Chuck" Burns, a cherished father, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on March 29, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota, Chuck lived a life rich with love, laughter, and adventure.
Chuck was the beloved son of Lyle Charles Burns Sr. and Eva Mae Loren. Growing up in Minnesota, then Colorado and finally Arizona, he developed a deep appreciation for history and storytelling, which he later pursued academically. Chuck earned his degree in History from Whittier College in Whittier, California, a foundation that fueled his lifelong passion for learning and understanding the world around him.
After completing his education, Chuck married his former wife, Diane Wilks and started his career as a Sales Representative for a major appliance manufacturer. Several years later, he embarked on a career as an Over-the-Road Truck Driver, a profession that allowed him to explore the vast expanse of the country he loved so much. His adventures on the open road mirrored his easy-going and fun-loving nature, and he often shared captivating tales from his journeys with family and friends.
Chuck's personal life was equally fulfilling. He was a devoted partner to Kathy Lhamon, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with joy and companionship, supporting each other through all of life's ups and downs. Chuck was a proud father to four children: Jeff, Greg, Steve, and Suzy. His eyes would light up as he spoke about his grandchildren—Alyssa, Karli, Hailey, Lindsey, Brent, and Stevie and great granddaughter Audrey—who brought him immense joy and pride.
Chuck was known for his loving spirit and his ability to find joy in the simplest of things. He had a diverse range of interests including a passion for railroad, history, news, politics, movies, and television. His easy-going demeanor made him a favorite among friends and family, as he could light up a room with his humor and warmth.
Though he is preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen, Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. His partner Kathy, children and their spouses Jeff (Claudia), Greg (Mary), Steve (Sheri), and Suzy (Shannon); grandchildren and their spouses Alyssa (Pedro), Karli (David) , Hailey, Lindsey, Brent, and Stevie; great granddaughter Audrey; sister Kathy and brother David (Melanie), will carry his spirit with them, reflecting on the lessons he taught and the love he shared.
A private Memorial Service will be held in Chuck’s honor, Celebrating a Life Well-Lived and a heart that touched so many. As we remember Lyle Charles "Chuck" Burns, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. His journey may have come to an end, but his impact on our lives will remain forever etched in our hearts.
