On Saturday, July 4, 2020 Lillian N. Burner, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 96. She has now joined her beloved husband Joseph C. Burner, who passed away on May 7th, 2015. Her family will miss her greatly. She was easy to make laugh, had a good sense of humor, and cared deeply about her family.
Lily was born in Chandler, Arizona on August 19th, 1923 to Manuel and Joaquina Estrella. She worked at the Williams Air Force Base in the commissary where she met and later married Joseph. Joe was working in the Air Force as weather instructor. Together they raised four sons, Joseph, Gary, TImothy, and Mitchell, and two daughters Pamela and Melanie at their home in Chandler.
Joe and Lily created a beautiful life together in their 67 years of marriage. Their dedication, kindness, generosity, faith and love are living on through their children and grandchildren. Lily was a wonderful cook that made the most delicious Mexican dishes, which were passed down from her family, with roots in the Estrella Mountains. She spent her days at home with the children while Joe made a career at the local Basha’s as a produce manager, a job he was very passionate about and later retired from. He also loved hunting and camping, and to this day their children and grandchildren carry on their love for the outdoors, cooking and family.
Lillian and Joseph Burner are survived by their six children: Joseph, Gary, Timothy, Mitchell, Pamela and Melanie, Joseph’s siblings: Samuel, Francis and Marion, nieces and nephews, many grandchildren, and even great grandchildren.
A viewing and service will be held on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at Bueler Mortuary in Chandler at 9 o’clock a.m.
