Lila Woods, age 95, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1929, in Rome, New York, to George Seifert and Laura Wolsmuth. Lila lived a full, independent, and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Lila graduated from Rome Free Academy High School and earned her nursing degree from the State University of New York Plattsburgh. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a registered nurse in the Long Island area, substituting as the school nurse at the Oneida School District, and raising her family. Lila raised her family in Oneida Castle, New York, before moving to Mesa, Arizona, and then to Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Lila was a devoted wife to John Curtis Woods for 54 years until his passing. She was a loving and caring mother to her children: John, George, Jim, Barbara, and Janel. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Caitlyn, Justin, Cassie, Emily, Adam, James, Ethan, Sarah, Allie, and Ava, and as a great-grandmother to Lainey.
She was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Mae, Margaret, and Dorothy.
Throughout her life, Lila was deeply spiritual. She found strength through her Christian faith and actively served in the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church and Cochran Memorial Church in Oneida Castle, New York. She loved caring for her family and friends by listening, cooking farm country meals, and baking fabulous desserts. She also enjoyed spending time with her pets, gardening, volunteering at the library, doing puzzles, and socializing with her friends in Oneida and Sun Lakes.
All who were fortunate enough to know her will deeply miss her warm smile and loving nature. Lila found meaning in her life through kindness, caring, and wisdom. She gave her life purpose by sharing these gifts with everyone every day.
