Lendon Howard Adkins, 85 of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on December 3rd, 2024. He was born in Widen, West Virginia on June 15th, 1939.
Lendon is survived by his loving wife Sharon (married for 65 years) and his five children, Daniel Adkins (Kat), Christina Albright (Ben), James Adkins (Melissa), Shelley Collins (Pat), and Steven Adkins. In addition, he has six living siblings, brothers Randy, Mike, Wayne, and Roger and sisters, Linda Lou and Brenda. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lendon loved tinkering with his vehicles. That was probably his favorite thing to do! In recent years, he enjoyed his El Camino and restoring his 1960 Studebaker pickup truck. He also loved NASCAR, his hero was the late Dale Earnhardt SR. Lendon also loved older style country music, those heroes included Hank Williams SR, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Don Williams. His newer favorite song was “Where Corn Don’t Grow” by Travis Tritt.
Lendon was an adventurous man. In 1978, he and Sharon and their five children, moved from Campbellsport, Wisconsin to Vancouver, Washington in a school bus. He loved building memories with family and friends! Dad created a party wherever he went!
Lendon fought COPD for the last couple years! He fought hard! Almost one year before his death, Lendon surrendered to Jesus and became a Christian. He was born again on December 10th, 2023 in the Chandler hospital.
A Celebration of Lendon’s life will take place at a later date, possibly in a couple locations - the only tentative date at this time is June 15th, 2025 in Pomeroy, Ohio on his 86th birthday. Eventually he will be buried in a family cemetery in West Virginia.
