Lawrence Paul Hunt
, age 72, known as Larry, passed peacefully into the next life in his home in Chandler, AZ on April 23, 2018. He was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Berkeley Heights, NJ. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1966 and served his country for three years.
In 1969, he married his lovely wife, Dorothy. They became the proud parents of one handsome son and eight beautiful daughters. Larry cherished family time and taught his children many of life’s lessons.
Larry graduated from Brigham Young University in engineering. He worked most of his career as a project manager at government sites in California, Alaska, Washington, Idaho, and Utah. He and his family loved the experience they had in Alaska as he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline.
He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1968. His many callings included, teacher, Elder’s Quorum president, bishop, stake high councilman, and stake young men’s president. He and Dorothy, served a mission in the Nevada, Las Vegas West Mission from 2013-2015.
His survivors include: wife, Dorothy Hunt; children: Donna (Jeff) Mercer, Pam (Jim) Koukas, Bryan (Jennie) Hunt, Karen (Mark) Freeman, Sandi Jones, Sharon (Spencer) Jarvis, Debbie (Matthew) Salt, Kristin (Mike) Farr, Kammi Hunt; and 28 grandchildren. Siblings: Carol (Bill) Ruhle, Shirley (Geoff) Harris, Joyce (Bob) Wetmore, and Bill (Jackie) Hunt.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the LDS Pleasant Building, 800 W. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ 85248.
Viewing will begin at 9:00am, with funeral services starting at 10:00am. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona later that afternoon.
