Kenneth Frank Burgess, age 78, died on March 12, 2025 from complications of lung fibrosis. He was a resident of Gold Canyon, Arizona.
Ken was born in Toccoa, Georgia on April 9, 1946 to Jessie Leigh and Jones Jackson Burgess. He married his wife, Sarah Thornton Burgess, on Valentines Day, 1970. They moved to Chandler, Arizona from Atlanta, Georgia in 1989.
Ken graduated from Stephens County High School in 1963, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. In Journalism.
Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 earning an SP5 rank. He completed a tour of Vietnam from April 1968 to November 1969.
His work career was primarily as a Project and Sales Manager for IT energy and meter systems, selling primarily to public utilities throughout the western states.
Ken loved Sarah, his sons Matthew and Luke, Luke’s fiancé December, and Colsen, who he pronounced the “world’s cutest grandson”. He loved all his extended family in Georgia and South Carolina along with golfing, hiking, fishing, hunting and being with close friends. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs and his own beloved dog, Daisy. He had an abiding faith in the love of Jesus.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Jones Burgess, his brothers Charles Burgess, and Joe Dan Burgess, and Charles’s wife Jan Burgess; and Joe’s wife Gwen Burgess.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Burgess; his sons Matthew Jones Burgess and Luke Thornton Burgess; Luke’s fiancé December Davis and grandson Colsen Davis Burgess; his brother, Marvin Burgess Lydia Burgess (sister-in-law); sister, Joyce Sheriff; Carolyn Osborn (sister-in-law); Bill Osborn (brother-in-law); nephews Chuck Burgess, Michael Burgess, Tim Burgess, Bob Burgess, Bruce Cartwright, and Brian Cartwright; and nieces Patti Burgess, Suzanne Decamier, and Beth Bellamy and all their extended families.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225.
Lunch will follow for family and friends to celebrate Ken’s life as we grieve his loss.
