Kathleen (Kathy) Ostrem Matesi

Kathleen Rae (Ostrem) Matesi (Kathy) was born in Joliet, Illinois on February 25, 1939 to Truman and Miriam (Barnes) Ostrem and went to heaven on June 7, 2024. 

Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Eugene Matesi Sr., her children Vicki (Neil Shea), Michele (Layne Nelson), Geno (Jamie), Nick (Liz), 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Kathy) Ostrem and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim and her sons Michael and Peter. 

Kathy was an excellent cook and wowed many people with her expertise. Family and friends had many a great meal at her table. She loved all things craft oriented especially her beautiful needlework, which she did lovingly up until her passing. She had a great sense of style and color which made for a lovely home and life for her family. Kathy exhibited a selfless commitment to her husband and family, always putting others first. She had a kind word and smile for everyone she met. We were blessed to have Kathy in our lives and already miss her more deeply than words can express. 

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, Phoenix, AZ 85044 on Friday, June 14th at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow in the Parish Center. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts to Hospice of the Valley would be much appreciated.
