Joyce Ann (Cornelius) Johnson

Joyce Ann (Cornelius) Johnson, 85, of Chandler, Arizona passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023. Joyce was born in Peoria, Illinois to Dee “Poppy” Cornelius and Ann “Nanny” (Koch) Cornelius. She moved to Arizona with her daughter in the 1960s, where she met her husband, Phillip Arthur Johnson, and became the stepmother to his four children. Joyce and Phillip had another son, Phillip Arthur Johnson II, to complete the family, and they were married for over 30 years before Phillip’s death in 1999.

Joyce was the life of the party and was a friend to everyone she met. She was also a gifted artist.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Deanne, stepdaughter Karen and stepson Norman, and her brother Ken. She is survived by her son Phillip, her stepsons Steve and Terry, her grandchildren Phillip Arthur III and Cameron, as well as step grandchildren, Great step grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
