Joan Patricia Leavy was born April 27th, 1965 in Manhattan, New York, to her loving parents Ann and Anthony Leavy. Joan had always been a free spirit, unshackled by societal standards. She could win just about anybody over. She was gracefully charismatic and carried the essence of love and joy with her wherever she went. There is no doubt that her soul is as vibrant now as it was in life.
Joan loved being a mother more than anything else. She was made for it. Being as incredibly loving and kind as she was, it was no surprise that she was a naturally extraordinary parent. Her girls were her pride and joy until the end and beyond.
Joan passed away March 21st, 2025 at a mere 59 years of age, surrounded by loved ones at Banner University Medical Center. She tragically succumbed to her battle with non-alcoholic liver disease, despite fighting relentlessly for years. Joan is survived by her two daughters, Anne, 23 and Katelyn, 22, her life partner, David Meyer and her older sister, Maureen Aliabadi. She would also like to mention her two beloved dogs, Pika and Samuel. Joan was predeceased by her mother, Ann, in 2023 and her father, Anthony, just 11 days before her own passing this year.
Joan died far too young, and her loss is felt deeply. However, we may find some comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering and can find peace once again. Joan is looking down on us now, guiding her family through this terrible loss.
