James (Jim) Wallace Peterson passed away on May 4 2024 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 87.
Jim was Born July 30, 1936 to Grace (James) and Oscar W. Peterson in Salt Lake City, Utah where he spent most of his early childhood. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1954 and enlisted in the US Army along with several classmates. He was stationed in Germany towards the end of the Korean war. After the war he returned to his family in Bountiful, Utah and there he met the love of his life Margie (Lee). They
were married August 12, 1960 and were later sealed “for time and all eternity” in the LDS Logan Temple.
Jim became a professional Bus Driver and drove buses for Greyhound and Trailways to many destinations all over the United States. He was also a favorite driver for Faldmo
Tours. Jim was a hard worker and a devoted husband and father. Everything he did was for his family. When Marge’s health took a turn, he stood by her side helping her and encouraging her to be independent when she lost her eyesight. He marked
appliances with beads so Marge could use them, he would read knitting patterns on tape so she could work on projects when he wasn't home. He also made time to be with his kids and do fun activities with them. He was brave and kind, especially when he
taught his daughter how to drive a manual transmission car. He was someone you could talk to. He would listen and encourage you to do your best and remind you that he would be there to cheer you on.
Jim and Marge adored their grandchildren JJ, Megan, Tommy, Jacob, John, Emily, and Anna. They thought everything their grandchildren did was amazing and wonderful, reveling in their accomplishments and cheering them on through their trials.
Jim loved driving on the roads and sharing the beauty of the world with his family and bus passengers. He drove millions of miles and earned multiple safety awards. He made lifelong friendships with those he worked with and passengers on the charters he drove for and would often meet up with his buddies for lunch or a round of golf.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife (2018), his parents, brothers Jack (Betty), Dennis, and grandson Thomas Charles (Tommy). He is survived by his son Jeffery Lee Peterson (Robin) and daughter Andrea Price (David), 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Jim’s neighbors and friends in Utah, who loved him and for their countless hours of service in helping him. We would also like to thank the staff at Brookdale, Tempe, a memory care assisted living facility; Jim spent the last year of his life among people who loved and cared for him there.
There is no funeral per his request. We are grateful for the messages of love and support we have received from friends and family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitney and Murphy Buehler Mortuary.
