James Christian Gunderson
Chris was born February 28, 1951 in Juneau, Alaska. Raised in Cordova, Alaska. Graduated from Copper Valley School in 1969. After high school he enlisted in the Army serving in Korea. After serving in the Army he went to upstate New York with his Army buddy, Bill Stoddard. Here he met and married Patti Bedell. They returned to Cordova where Chris worked 20 years for the city and they raised their four daughters: Carrie, Bridget, Meghan and Sandy. He retired to the Phoenix, Arizona area where he married Connie Gunderson. He passed away two days shy of his 65th birthday. Chris loved his daughters, grandchildren, cooking and all sports; his favorites being NFL Steelers and Syracuse basketball. He was proud of his military service and that of his son-in-laws. In true form to his Irish heritage he could spin an interesting yarn of such.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents Art and Rita Gunderson.
Chris is survived by his siblings Mike Gunderson, Joe Gunderson, Maureen (Larry) St. Amand, Anne (John) Hershleb, and Sean (Nancy) Gunderson. His daughters, Carrie Kennedy her husband Matt and their sons Killian and Ryiland. Bridget Ladd her husband Wesley and their children Micah, Madeline, Mason, Maxwell, Michelle and Mary. Meghan Crist her husband Jason and their children Tommi, Jason and Eli. Sandy Ashton her husband Nick and their son Jackson. As well as his wife Connie Gunderson.
Services will be held in Chandler, AZ and Cordova, AK on March 19th at 10:00 AM.
