Henrietta McCain

was born September 26, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Rev.
Bassie
and Clarinda McCain. She was
the
eighth child out of thirteen born to this union.
She grew up in Jamaica, New
Yo
rk
and
graduated from John Adam
s
High School. Later
she
earned her associate degree
computer
science. At a young age she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptize
d
at Unity Baptist Church
in Mattituck, Long Island.
She met and married Mr. Roy Henry in 1969. Together they owned and operated a number of
o
f
successful convenience stores.
In 1977 Henrietta Henry relocated to Phoenix
Arizona, and soon
began working for Arizona State University where she enjoyed a successful career as a computer analyst for 26 years.
She was admired by staff and co-workers for having an uncompromising work ethic and thirst for knowledge. She encouraged everyone especially young people to stay in school and get a good education. Henrietta was an avid reader especially of the Sunday New York Times.
She enjoyed tennis, golfing and above all traveling.
One of her favorite
places, which she visited often was Paris France.
She often brought back unusual and memorable souvenirs
which she unselfishly shared with everyone. It
is no doubt that one could say
her sp
iritual heart was greater than her natural one.
Henrietta
was a warm and giving person
and her infectious love of life overflowed and blessed all those with whom she encountered.
She fell in love with Chandler Arizona and dec
ided
along with a life-long friend of 45 years Alice Guarneri to purchase a home where she lived until the Lord called her home.
Henrietta would often express how she and Alice enjoyed dinning out and spending time with their friends. Both Alice and her had a passion for animals and would rescue any that they could.
Henrietta Henry departed this life on Friday March 4, 2022, and leaves to cherish her memory five brothers William McCain of Hopkins, S.C. Lincoln McCain of Grindstone, PA, Nathan McCain of Springfield Garden, NY
, Marvin McCain of Ruckersville, VA, Matthew McCain of Valley Stream , NY and two sisters Ophelia Martin of
Lancaster, California, Roberta Elder of St. Albans, New York, and her partner for many years Alice Guarneri.
She also leaves
to cherish her
Goddaughter
Uriel Meadows Elde
r whom she adored, as well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
