Harold J. Stanton

Harold James Stanton, 84, peacefully entered into Heaven on February 3, 2016 with his wife Martha at his side. He was born In Brooklyn, New York on August 8, 1931 to Bridget Florence Wilkinson-Stanton and Harold H. Stanton.

In 1949, Harry joined the US Navy right out of high school. He served his country from 1949 to 1973. The Navy was his career. His years of service took him through Japanese occupation of WWII, Korean War, Cuban Crisis (His ship was involved in the Bay of Pigs attack.), and the Vietnam War.

Harry met and married Marti in 1974, a year after his retirement from the Navy. He then went on to get his college degree. He worked for Rosenblatt and Sons, based in San Diego, as an electrical designer. His work was mostly repairing US Military ships that had been damaged at sea. This took him to different US Naval ports much of the time.

In 1994, Marti retired from the airlines, and they made a move to Sun Bird Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona to spend their “golden retirement years.”

Harry is a member of FRA (Fleet Reserve Association), American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Korean War Veterans Association. He was Grand Commander of the Cooties (which is a part of the VFW that visits fellow Veterans) in 2002/2003; their motto is, “Keep them smiling in beds of white.”

The final journey of life blessing: Fair Winds and a Following Sea.
