George Greenberg July 5, 1944 - December 21, 2024
Sheila Greenberg July 13, 1948 - December 27, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Greenberg (née Shershow) and George Greenberg, whose lives were a testament to love, family, and shared joy. Married for 55 beautiful years, they departed this world together, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and countless cherished memories.
Sheila, born on July 13, 1948, in Everett, Massachusetts, was the beloved daughter of Doris and Julius Shershow and sister to Joan and Myron Shershow, all of whom preceded her in death. Sheila resided most of her years in Peabody, Massachusetts, where she cultivated her love for people, theater, and life. Later, she made her home in Gilbert, Arizona, where she became known for her warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to her family. She was lovingly known as “GG” by her grandchildren, a title she embraced with pride and joy.
George, born on July 5, 1944, in Lynn, Massachusetts, was the cherished son of Esther and Harry Greenberg and brother to Milton Greenberg, all of whom preceded him in death. George, an elementary school teacher of over 35 years, also resided the majority of his years in Peabody, Massachusetts, before settling in Gilbert, Arizona, with his beloved Sheila. He was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan, an avid golfer, and a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa.”
Together, Sheila and George built a loving family centered on shared values and unbreakable bonds. They are survived by their son, David Greenberg, and his wife, Jennifer, and their late daughter, Alisa Greenberg, and her husband, Scott Oliver. They were the proud and adoring grandparents of Emily Oliver, Hannah Oliver, and Eli Greenberg, who brought immeasurable joy to their lives.
Sheila will be remembered for her vivacious spirit, love of the arts, and occasional visits to the casino, while George’s memory will be carried on through his passion for golf, Boston sports teams, and the profound love he shared with Sheila. Both were devoted to their grandchildren and found immense happiness in doting over them and celebrating their accomplishments. Their lives were a beautiful symphony of love, partnership, and family, and their passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.
A joint celebration of Sheila and George’s lives will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W Hulet Dr, Chandler, AZ 85225. A live stream link is available below for the many friends and loved ones from afar who wish to attend remotely.
