Freda Janit Layton Rodgers 

Janit was born on April 23, 1937 in Downey, Idaho and passed away in Chandler, Arizona on February 15, 2025. 

Her favorite things were her family, her faith in Jesus Christ, and making sure everyone knew they were loved. She took every opportunity to nurture and care for all the people around her. Janit spent her entire life in service.  

Janit had a great love of music. Her children could always find her in the family room playing the piano. Oh, how she wished she could also sing! She also loved to knit and crochet. Every new baby was sure to receive a cute crocheted toy, and every one of her grandchildren looked forward to designing a one-of-kind Christmas Stocking with Grandma.  

Janit is preceded in death by her son Daniel James Rodgers, her parents, and all eight of her siblings. Janit is survived by her Husband Michael Aaron Rodgers, seven living children, a lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother and sister in-laws, assorted cousins, and about a gazillion nieces and nephews.  

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a Viewing at 9:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3770 S. Cooper Rd, Chandler, AZ 85249. A Graveside Service will follow at 12:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
