Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Swanson

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Swanson, age 65, announces her passing on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona after a long illness.

Elizabeth was born to the late John Robert and Patricia Ann (Ketchum) Swanson on January 18, 1954 in Taylorville, Illinois. She moved with her family to Chandler in 1965 where she graduated from Chandler High School in 1972. She went on to graduate with honors from ASU in 1977. Elizabeth loved travel, history, art and music. She was a  generous lifelong supporter of foundations in the Valley preserving the arts and nature.

Elizabeth retired in 2010 from the State of Arizona where she worked as a legal secretary in the Attorney General’s Office for over 30 years.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Winters and Andrea Hill and one brother, Tom Swanson (Margo); a niece and a nephew; six great-nieces and one great-nephew all of whom she doted on.

Visitation and rosary will be held Tuesday, January 29 from 6-8 pm at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W Hulet Dr, Chandler, AZ 85225. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, January 30 at St. Anne Roman Catholic Parish, 440 E Elliot Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Burial immediately following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85204. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
