Diane Newton Power

October 1, 1959 — June 29, 2024

Diane Newton Power passed peacefully from this life on June 29, 2024, in Gilbert, Arizona.

Diane was born October 1, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jack Winston Newton and Sylvia Ruth Clark. She came home to three older brothers, and everybody loved this beautiful brown eyed, curly haired baby girl. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah, with the three older boys and a brother and sister who followed. She attended local schools and graduated from Bountiful High School.

Diane attended Brigham Young University where she met Patrick Earl Power. They were married June 5, 1979 in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Diane and Patrick became parents of two sons; Adam McKay Power (Krista) and Logan Kent Power, and grandparents to Morrigan, Revan, and Miranda.

Diane received her Bachelors of Accounting after taking a break from school to raise her children. Her work as an accountant was very fitting as Diane was someone with a love for details, organization, and getting things right. She did the bookkeeping for Power Ranches Incorporated in the late 80s and enjoyed being part of the annual potato harvest that Queen Creek was famous for.

Diane was an accomplished pianist. She was an expert seamstress and sewed many costumes for her husband’s theater productions. She also liked to cook and often prepared food for large crowds, whether at Girls’ Camp, family reunions or theater fundraisers. She loved to travel and explore the world around her. Diane found peace on the beach and enjoyed relaxing in the sea breeze after tax season or helping with a production as an accompanist.

In her church activities, she served as a Primary President, Young Women President, camp director, pianist and organist.

Diane was a very kind soul and beloved by all who knew her.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Jack, and her brother Cliff (Arvonne) Newton. She is survived by her mother, husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as her siblings Greg (Sally) Newton, Bill (Bonnie) Newton, Clay (Kathryn) Newton, and Leslie (Brent) Reeder. Bonus sister, Lori Cox.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Montelena Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 19730 East Ocotillo Road, Queen Creek, Arizona. 9AM viewing, 10AM funeral. Interment will follow at 1PM at the Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 North Center Street, Mesa, Arizona.
