Darrel Arvid Adams
, 82, of Casa Grande, AZ., passed away on February 12
th
, 2022, after medical complications following a broken hip.
Darrel was born on October 9
th
, 1939, to Roger Leverett and Leila Wismer Adams, in Hillsboro, Oregon, the youngest of 4 children. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1957, he went on to serve a short time in the Army, until he was honorably discharged, in order to help his mother run the farm after the sudden death of his father.
Darrel met Lorena (Schuh), the love of his life, while driving young people into Portland for a Youth For Christ conference, and they married in 1966. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage, 7 children, and 22 grandchildren.
Darrel spent much of his life farming. He truly enjoyed God’s beautiful creation. In 1989, he moved his family to Montana where he and his family, as well as visiting friends and relatives enjoyed many trips through Glacier National Park, as well as camping and canoeing. In 1997, he decided to be the change he wanted to see and ran for the Montana House of Representatives. He served his country in the area of politics for three terms, before returning to his home state of Oregon. Later years found him and Lorena enjoying the warmer climate of Arizona.
Darrel enjoyed music and his harmonica was never far from him. He also spent much time drawing, and became a talented artist with his own unique style. He enjoyed gardening throughout his entire life, usually growing enough to share with others. Darrel was a devoted husband and father, often saying that he was married to his best friend. He happily welcomed each new grandchild, and loved and prayed for them all.
Faithful and active in church his entire life, his greatest desire was to live a life pleasing to his Savior and to see others come to Christ. Friends, acquaintances, and family describe him as kind, gentle, good hearted, peaceful, and hard working. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
