, 77 years of age of Chandler, Arizona passed away on August 14, 2019, at his home in Chandler, Arizona from lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Karen Layden. He is also survived by his children from Michigan Robert Michael Layden (Kathleen Mary), daughter, Robin Marie, granddaughter Camile Molina. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Harry and Bernice Layden. 2 Sisters, Carren Fox (Bill), Donna Brown (Jerry) and Michael Layden.
He is also survived by two step granddaughters and 4 step-great grandchildren which he enjoyed getting to know via Facebook. He is survived by the following brother and sister-in laws Keith and Julianne Harman, Charles W. and Patty Harris, and Janna Carlile, Nephews and Nieces, Elizabeth (Gabriel) Valadez, David (Jennifer) Harman, Joshua Harris (Katee), Matthew Harris. Also the nieces and nephews on the Brown and Fox side of the family.
Chris was born in Detroit, Michigan to Harry M Layden and Bernice A. Layden. He grew up in Melvindale, Michigan and had many friends and family. He attended Fordson High School graduating in 1960.
Chris joined the United States Navy and served from 1960 thru 1964 plus 2 years in the Navy Reserve. He served on the USS Quillback.
Chris worked for AT&T for 23 years and retired on December 31 1989 as a 2nd level Manager of the National AMA Control Center. Chris was a friend of Bill W’s for 30 plus years. He has helped countless people thru his life. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, playing cards and loved working on his computer and even built a computer himself. He also loved working in the yard and on the pool.
With Chris passing it has left an enormous hole in my heart.
A Memorial gathering will be on August 26

, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ . Burial will be at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
