Carlos Munoz

Carlos Munoz (69) passed away peacefully on August 20

th

, 2023, with his family lovingly by his side.

Carlos was born in Mesa, Arizona, on November 22, 1953, to Jesus and Celia Munoz. He attended Mesa Public Schools and graduated from Westwood High school where he met the love of his life, Cheryl.  Carlos and Cheryl married and had three children: Jacob, Anissa and Jennifer.  Carlos was a hardworking man and as many know,he loved working with his hands.  He was a tile setter for many years and when his body would no longer allow him to do that, he worked at Sun Lakes until he retired.  Carlos loved his family and friends; they meant the world to him.  He enjoyed spending time with them during holidays, family events, happy hours on the porch, family dinners and football Sundays.  Carlos enjoyed the outdoors to include camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and caring for his lawn.  When he couldn’t mow his lawn anymore, he supervised his grandsons while they did it.  Carlos was lucky and traveled throughout the world with his wife.  They traveled to South Africa, Italy, Bali, Hong Kong, Mexico, St. Marteen, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and many local places in the U.S.  He loved history and through his travels he was able to enjoy many historical sites.  Carlos fought hard the past three years but the lord called him home.

Carlos is predeceased by his father Jesus Munoz, mother Celia Munoz, and grandson Matthew Munoz, who were waiting to welcome him.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Munoz; three children Jacob Munoz, Anissa Coronado and Jennifer Willis; his brothers Donald Munoz and Robert Munoz; his sister Rose Marin; his eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many more family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston Street, Chandler, AZ 85225.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society.
