Captain Richard J. Fulton
, age 69, passed away December 16, at home surrounded by his family. Richard was born November 17, 1946, in Wadsworth, Ohio, and was the son of N. R. and Irene (Ciesla) Fulton. Richard was a retired United States Air Force captain bravely serving his country during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart, The Distinguished Flying Cross, a Humanitarian Service Award, a POW Medal, a Military Merit Medal and an Air Medal Award. He was also a POW for 11 months at the Hoa Lo Prison known as the “Hanoi Hilton” in North Vietnam. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Richard taught Aerospace classes in the magnet program at South Mountain High School in Phoenix, AZ. Richard was a modern-day chivalrous knight known for helping anyone who needed an extra hand. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Lemaire (Paul), his grandson, Jon Micheal Lemaire, his brother, John Fulton (Loretta), his sister, Joanne Terrell (Brian) and his father, N.R. Fulton. He was also an uncle to numerous nieces and a nephew. Richard was a member of VFW Post 7401 in Chandler, AZ. Services will be held on December 28, at Bueler Chandler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr. in Chandler, AZ. The viewing will be from 9-10 AM with the memorial service starting at 10 AM. The burial will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, in North Phoenix
