Bernie (Woody) Hadley Wood

On June 3rd, 2016 our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bernie Hadley Wood Sr. was taken from his earthly home to live in his home in Heaven. He is survived by his son, Bernie Wood Jr and wife, Rene of Mesa, AZ.  Brother Mack and wife, Karen of AZ.  Grandchildren, Christina Barraza (Amy), Sandra Dominguez (John), Elizabeth Wood (Nicholas), Jessica Wood, Benjamin Campbell and Rae Campbell all of Mesa, AZ, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Wood, brother Marian Wood and granddaughter, Amanda Cherri Campbell.

Bernie married Virginia Elizabeth Jameson in 1954 and they had their son Bernie Jr. in 1958.

Bernie served in the Air Force as Staff Sergeant Ground Chief. Throughout his military career he spent many of his 21 years stationed overseas. He was nicknamed “Woody” while serving and that name stuck with him for the rest of his life. In 1972, Bernie retired from the Air Force and went to work at Tally’s Industries and then at William’s Air Force Base where he retired From in 1993.

Bernie was loved by many and adored by his family. He loved his family and enjoyed every occasion he could spend with them. His prized possessions were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved making people laugh, playing cards, watching sports and WWE wrestling.

Viewing and memorial services will be held at the Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225. The viewing will be Thursday, June 9 from 6-8 pm; the memorial on Friday, June 10th at 11am. Bernie will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at National Memorial Cemetery of
