Barry Jonathan Abrams, 69, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1954, in New Haven, CT. Barry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Barry loved to make those around him laugh. He was a fan of stand-up comedy and was always known for telling jokes. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed seeing his favorite artists in concert. He would play his guitar for his children, often changing the lyrics to make them laugh.
Barry's favorite place to take his family was Hawaii; the running joke from his restaurant patrons was that his favorite 'wine' was "When are we going to Hawaii?!" He discovered his love of art while in Maui, where he returned often to expand his collection of his favorite local artists.
Barry was a sports aficionado with seemingly endless knowledge for baseball. He first discovered his love of simulation/fantasy baseball when his mother gifted him an Apba board game as a child. He was active in multiple leagues over his lifetime, reaching the level of commissioner in some. Barry shared his love of sports with his family by taking them to live sporting events as often as he could.
In his professional life, he graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in journalism prior to coming to Arizona. Barry's proudest moments came after retiring as a regional manager from the restaurant industry. He went on to become the owner of two successful businesses. He was the proud owner/operator of the San Tan Cafe and later took on a new business venture in the furniture repairs industry through Weathersby Guild as a franchisee.
