Barbara A. Taylor

September 28, 1936 — April 7, 2025

Barbara A. Taylor, age 88, was born September 28, 1936, in Edgemont, S.D., to Stuart Theodore and Clara Esther (Johnson) Fulton. She was the oldest of three and raised in Douglas, Wyoming. She graduated Valedictorian of her Senior class at Douglas High School in 1955. She met her future husband, Art, in June 1953, and they got married July 8, 1955, just after graduation. When Art was discharged from the Air Force in January 1956, they moved to Kansas for Art’s college and to start their family. After his graduation in 1960, they moved to California to pursue better job opportunities and continue raising their 2 small children. They remained in Redondo Beach, CA until their kids graduated, then took a 3-yr temporary work assignment on the East Coast. Thereafter, they moved to San Luis Obispo County, CA (Nipomo and Arroyo Grande), where they remained until after retirement. In 2018, they moved to Chandler, AZ to be closer to family.

Barbara is most known for her warm personality, vivacious smile, and hearty laugh. She had a beautiful singing voice and performed solos in church and directed children’s church choir in her younger years. She had a passion for cooking delicious food, but the most requested meal by family was her Southern Fried Chicken, unequal to none. She loved decorating for all the holidays and creating extravagant holiday spreads. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and reading. She had a special love for all children, but especially her grandkids, great grandkids, and adopted neighbor kids. She was fondly known for throwing lavish tea parties for the grandkids and great grandkids.

Barbara is survived by her adoring husband, Arthur J. Taylor, of 69 years; children, David A. Taylor, of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Dee Ann and husband Russell Brazil of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchild, Kristy and husband Chris Sipe of Pinetop, AZ, and grandchild by marriage, Valerie Brazil of Chandler, AZ; 5 great grandkids and 1 great great grandkid. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Janet Negrete and S. Richard Fulton, all of Douglas WY, and grandson, Justin Brazil, of Gilbert, AZ.
