Arlene Ruth Storms
beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born on December 23, 1923 in Kokomo, IN and passed
from this life on April 20, 2017 at her home in Chandler, AZ.
Arlene was the second of four daughters born to Edgar and Lola Johnson.
Her parents were long time farmers near Burlington, IN.
Arlene graduated from New London High School.
She attended Kokomo Business College.
As a young girl her family attended the Burlington Christian Church in Burlington, IN.
It was here that she gave her heart to Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord and was baptized.
Arlene worked in the secretarial pool in the main office at Continental Steel Corporation.
It was while working at Continental that she and future husband Dale Storms met.
They wrote each other and engaged in Bible studies while Dale was overseas.
Arlene was married to E. Dale Storms on September 16, 1945 at the Southside Christian Church in Kokomo, IN following his discharge from the Army Air Corp at the end of WWII.
In
1947, they became members of the Main Street Church of Christ (now Judson Road Christian Church) in Kokomo.
Arlene was primarily a stay at home mom, rearing and caring for her children as they grew up in Kokomo.
Arlene’s spiritual gift was hospitality.
She loved to cook and have company, her home was always a welcoming place for visiting evangelists, missionaries, Sunday School and Youth Groups.
She loved to have people in her home to feed and share the warmth of her Christian faith. She was a tireless church member, leading women’s groups, planning events and being the first person at church (many times before the preacher) to get her seat and greet everyone. Her cooking/baking skills were very much appreciated by her church and anyone fortunate to be invited to her home. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her family, but also enjoyed “adopting” others who needed a home-cooked meal or a place to lay their head. She was known for her photo albums, a true treasure of family history, everyone enjoyed viewing her creative albums.
In 1971, after an early retirement from Continental, Dale and Arlene relocated to Joplin, MO where Dale went to work first for Revival Fires and then Ozark Christian College.
Arlene continued her hospitable ways welcoming facility, staff, students and grandchildren into her home.
In Joplin, they became active members of College Heights Christian Church where they served faithfully until the ravages of time and Alzheimer’s took their toll.
In 2015 Dale and Arlene moved to Chandler, AZ to be closer to family.
Arlene is survived by her husband Dale and three children, Pam Carter and husband Ron of Las Vegas, Tim Storms and wife Becky of Auburndale, FL and Roger Storms and wife Nancy of Chandler, AZ.

Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
