Allen Duane White

Allen Duane White

was born in Hobart, OK on November 6, 1939 to Blaine and Mary White. He was the second son born to Blaine and Mary.  Blaine and Mary were farmers and lived close by Mary’s parents who were also farmers.  Soon after he was born, WWII began and times were hard.  Allen’s sister, Lynell was born in 1942 and that completed their family.  In 1943, Allen’s dad and a friend headed to CA looking for work.  They had car trouble in Tempe, AZ.  Allen’s dad stayed in Tempe and went to work at a place that was a service station or car “pit” for trucks.  Tempe became Allen’s home for over 50 years.

Allen attended Tempe High School and graduated in 1957.  Following high school, he enlisted in the Army where he served for 2 years.  He married Marla Tidwell on June 17, 1961.  Allen and Marla were blessed with 6 children, Brett (Julie), Camille (Craig) Seymore, Jacob (Tiffany), Quincy (Bryan) Nelson, Gabriel (Jenelle), and Alejandra (Isaias) Garza.

Allen worked for Standard Oil Company and then later was a Chevron Dealer.  He opened “Al White Chevron” in Scottsdale Arizona in June of 1969. He later owned service stations in Mesa and Tempe.  Allen was a good provider for his family and a hard worker.

Allen spent much of his adult life serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many capacities including Bishop.  From 2006-2008, Allen and Marla served an 18 month mission to the Caribbean island of Dominica where they truly loved the people and touched many lives.

Allen and Marla spent 55 years together before her passing.  Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Marla; an infant daughter, his parents, brother and 2 grandchildren.  He is survived by his sister, 6 children, 25 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27th at 10:00 AM with a family visitation at 9:00 AM.  Services will be held at the LDS Stake Center located at 19730 E. Ocotillo Rd., Queen Creek, AZ  85142
