Alice Laree Dudding

Alice Laree Dudding, a native of Arizona, passed away at the age of 89 on October 4, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1935, in Chandler, AZ to John and Pauline Openshaw. 

Laree was raised in Chandler where she graduated from Chandler High in 1953, She then attended Secretarial School and BYU. Shortly thereafter she married E. Darr Dudding in 1954. They lived in Tucson, AZ until Darr completed his Pharmacy Degree. Once he graduated, they returned to Chandler, AZ where they welcomed their four children. In 1975, Laree opened a bridal registry and Hallmark store called LaRee's Cards and Gifts in Downtown Chandler. 

Laree was a lifelong, dedicated and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings and was always willing to serve. She also had a passion for learning, was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed quilting, cooking, and collecting antiques. Laree made many long-lasting friendships that she cherished. She was a strong woman who loved her family, God, and country, and she was "always prepared!!" 

Laree is survived by her children, Steven Dudding (Brenda), Darla Reidhead (Blake), and Kathleen Gordon; siblings, Martin Openshaw, Robert Openshaw, and Linda Stoffers; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she dearly loved. 

She was preceded in death by her husband E. Darr Dudding, son David Dudding, daughter-in-law Deanna Dudding, and grandsons B. Jeremy Reidhead and Eric E. Dudding. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2024 at 10:00 AM with a Viewing from 9:00-9:45 prior to the start of services at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1950 W. Galveston St., Chandler, AZ. Internment will be at the Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St., Mesa, AZ. 

An additional Viewing will also be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 17th, 2024 at the Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr., Chandler, AZ.
