Adlore William Durand
went to his heavenly home on September 26th, 2017 after a valiant fight with Parkinson disease. He was born on May 24th, 1935 to Joe and Kathryn Durand. Ad, along with his siblings; Donald, Carolyn and Edward grew up in a small town in northern Wisconsin called Commonwealth. He graduated in 1953 from Florence High School. Ad is survived by Marge, his loving wife of 62 ½ years; daughters Kelly (John) Della Chiesa, Dawn (Bill) Polniak and son Brett Durand. Ad and Marge have been blessed with 7 grandchildren; Nicole (EJ) Hubbell, Lacey (Jourdan) Kuehn, Sean King, Cameron, Jeremy, Austin, Aubrey Durand and 5 great grandchildren; Jake, Isabella, Kayleigh, Colton and Makenzie. Also survived by sister Carolyn Dulka, step brother Mike Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, 2 brothers and great grandson Avery have preceded him in death. After serving in the Marine Corp from 1954-1956, Ad went to airline school and worked in the airline industry until retiring from Northwest Airlines in 1993. His career provided the family with many travel opportunities. Ad and Marge traveled to many wonderful locations including Europe, Asia, Hawaii, Mexico and many places in the continental US. They have lived in North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado before retiring to Arizona in 1997. Ad certainly loved life! His family always came first. His greatest joy was family time. He was a very involved dad who loved playing basketball with his children, riding bikes, taught them all to ski and manage to survive teaching them how to drive. He was always willing to lend a hand if someone needed help. Ad was a man of many interests; Harley Davidson Motorcycles (owning 27 different models through the years), fast cars (Corvettes), cold beer, an occasional JD, playing pool, skiing, the Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, golfing (he achieved the first hole-one at the Springfield Community golf course) where he resided. He loved music and insisted it be played loud; Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, blue grass and of course polka music. He was an accomplished musical spoons player and often accompanied any music that was being played. Ad told amazing stories, some embellished to provide listeners with a greater laugh. Lastly, who could forget the “family tradition” of pulling up one pant leg during photo shoots? These precious memories will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Services will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2017 at 10:00 am.
