Marvin (Marv) Eugene Berg

Marvin (Marv) Eugene Berg

, 72, passed away from underlying conditions complicated by covid19 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Chandler Regional Hospital.

Marv was born November 22, 1948 in Gordon, Nebraska to Armond and Doris Berg. After moving and living in Jamestown, North Dakota he and his family moved to Casper, Wyoming at the age of 7. He attended local schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1967. He attended Casper College before joining the United States Marine Corp and ended up serving in Vietnam in the Vietnam Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). He was injured during this time and spent the rest of his service time, first as a patient, then as a worker, at the military hospital in Oakland, CA.

After returning to Casper, Marv met his wife Barbara, through mutual friends and they married on January 23, 1971. Shortly thereafter he began working for Western Airlines as a Customer Service Agent. He loved working in the airline industry and continued working for Delta Airlines after they purchased Western. He was transferred from Casper to Chandler, AZ in 1994 and worked for 33 1/2 years until his retirement. He took a brief break before joining Costco in 2006, retiring in 2019 after 13 years.

Marv was a strong, kind, sensitive man who loved his family and friends, and was fiercely protective. In 2007 he survived a “widowmaker” heart attack and decided to make Jesus the Lord of his life. He quietly loved the Lord and loved to share with anyone who would listen. He had an engaging manner with others, was well known for his sense of humor and laughter, his adventurous nature and strong opinions! He was a movie lover and was dedicated to working out at the gym. He loved being an amateur chef and enjoyed occasionally indulging in decadent desserts! He loved animals, especially his grand dog, Sniffy, who will miss him very much.

Marv is survived by his wife Barbara, Chandler, AZ; daughter Kelley Saccoliti (Howard), grand dog Sniffy, Gilbert, AZ; daughter Holly Jacks (Matthew), grandchildren Isaac, Lander, Kaemon and Lucy Jacks, Chandler, AZ. Brother Michael Berg (Vivian), Casper, WY; sister Myra Thompson, St. Charles, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents Armond and Doris Berg; sister Marsha White, niece Pam Thompson Doerge and nephew Aaron Berg.

The family would like to thank all of those in the medical field for their efforts to save Marv, the caring Two Rivers Church family, and the many friends that have reached out to his remaining family.

Marv’s family rejoices in the confidence they have that he is with Jesus and his body is healthy and whole again. They are grateful that his legacy lives on in his daughters and grandchildren.

In Marv’s memory, the family suggests making contributions to the children’s building fund at Two Rivers Church, 326 E. Guadalupe Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234.
