Gordon Eugene Gunzelman

was born in Niagara Falls, New York on September 11, 1931, and went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the age of 91.

Gordon enlisted in the Marine Corp on April 25, 1951, at Cherry Point, North Carolina.

His service included: Korean Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal w/1*. Gordon was honorably discharged from the USMC on July 24, 1957, as a Staff Sargent.

After serving his country, he earned his Bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University in Industrial Engineering.

He was employed by Arrow Shirt Company in Georgia, followed by 30 years at Motorola SPS, in Phoenix AZ, where he retired.

Gordon volunteered as a Little League umpire, Indian Guides Leader & Junior Achievement mentor. His volunteering included SPS Golf League as President, managing SPS softball league & played in Men’s slow pitch league. Gordon especially loved his USMC involvement in the Marine Corps League, East Valley Marines Detachment 1296 Arizona.

His love of golf was inspired by golfing legend, Arnold Palmer. Gordon also volunteered at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for 15 years with his wife Sandy. He also volunteered in the Phoenix Open, & 3 Championship Tournaments.

Gordon enjoyed crossword puzzles, snow skiing, throwing horseshoes, St. Louis Cardinal baseball (especially Stan Musial) loved Mexican food & margaritas!

Gordon enjoyed being with his family, celebrating milestones, and special occasions. He loved traveling at home & abroad. His travels included: China, Europe, Hawaii, Ohio, New York, California, Kentucky.

Gordon is preceded in death by his son Matthew Gunzelman, daughter Kerin Denzer, & several siblings.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Gunzelman of 41 years. Also survived by his children, Mike Gunzelman (Cathy), Bill Denzer (Christine), Mark Gunzelman (Teresa). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Ashley Buschmann (Ben), Kelsey Donohue (Drew), Brian Gunzelman (Elizabeth), Josh Fuzy, Allie Gunzelman, Christopher Denzer & Stephen Gunzelman. He also is survived by 5 great grandchildren.

Gordy will be truly missed by his family.
