Frances Virginia Hope Gonzales
Frances Virginia Hope Gonzales, 79, gracefully passed on Saturday, the 29th of April, 2023, after fighting a courageous battle with Dementia.
Frances was preceded in Heaven by her parents; her loving husband Richard Abraham Gonzales Sr.; and their son Richard Gonzales Jr. She is survived by her daughters Yvonne Hope Gonzales, Yolanda Gonzales, MariaJorjina Moreno; her eight grandchildren Gabriella, Xavier, Amari, Audrey, Jasmine, Francisca, Marlene, and Amaya; her great granddaughter, Evangeline Rose Gonzalez; her three sisters, Norma Gauna, Evelyn Stevens and Rabecca Sanchez; her brother Richard Mora; and large extended family of the Pope, Navaro, Hermosillo, Hope, Gomez, Gonzales, Martinez, Oryosaba, Vargas, Lopez, Abril, and Ortiz.
Frances was born February 11th, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona, and was raised by Maria and Jorge Hope. She was a beloved and cherished member of her communities of St. Anthony’s, St. Catherine’s and St. Gregory’s. She attended Arizona State University and graduated from Ottawa University’s Satellite Program with a Masters in Education in 1998. She belonged to and volunteered with several different local organizations early in her life, such as Chicanos por la Causa, LULAC and Las Guadulupanas.
Frances had over 50 Godchildren, in which she was well known as “Nina Panchita”. She loved the outdoors and taught her family to value nature and all things on God’s Earth. She was a wonderful teacher and exceptional musician; the piano, the organ and the harp were a handful of instruments that she played. Her life was God and her family. She was always known as the “life of the party” and there was never a dull moment when Frances was involved. She will be remembered as a lover of life and will be deeply missed.
A Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 12th, 2023 from 4-8 pm, with a rosary being prayed at 7 pm at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Chapel, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 12 pm at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015.
