Carolyn Iris Harman Calhoun

Carolyn Iris Harman Calhoun

passed with her family by her side the afternoon of January 11, 2023. Carolyn, or Charlie as she was known to family and close friends, was born September 5, 1940, in Flagstaff, AZ to Kenneth Hemenway and Ada Lerona McDonald Harman. At age six, her father moved the family to Glendale where she met her two great loves – horses, and Gary Calhoun, with whom she was married for 60 years until his passing in 2017.

Charlie was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served the members of the church in many capacities with love and compassion. She worked at LDS Book and Supply from 1977 to 2004; it was a job she dearly loved where she formed close friendships that would last the rest of her life.

Charlie and Gary were exceptionally warm and inviting people; many of their daughters’ ex-boyfriends had a more difficult time letting go of them than they did the daughter they had been dating.

Charlie is survived by her three daughters, Lora Mavity, Kimberly Inman and Lisa Fyan (Marc), seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and by her brothers Robert (Suzanne) Harman and Gene (Lorraine) Harman.

The Family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley for their kindness and compassion – please donate generously – and Dominic (no ‘Q’) of Bueler Mortuary for taking such devoted care of our loved ones. Services will be held Monday, January 23, 2023, at 12:30pm at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale.

A heartfelt thank you to Lisa and Marc for opening their home to our mother for these past five years and for the loving and compassionate care that they provided to the very end.
