Bennie John Bua

Bennie John Bua obituary was written Dec. 26, 2021

Bennie John Bua, 62, died December 22 of Covid-19 in Chandler Regional Hospital. He was born in Tucson, AZ April 12, 1959, to Tony and Cathy Bua.

He graduated from Chandler High in 1977 and earned his B.A. from ASU in 1981.

Bennie was known far and wide for his role in the family business, Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers.  Over the years, he helped each store with cake delivery. Gregarious and creative, “Bennie had a kind, generous

heart,” his mother says. “We were so proud of him.” His wife Cynthia echoes the sentiment. “Bennie loved people. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed every time he handed over every cake we made.”

Writing was his passion. He spent years writing, “It’s a Rumderful Life,” a cookbook about his family, which had gone to agents for publication.

His survivors include his mother, Cathy Bua; his wife, Cynthia Bua; and his daughter, Bella Bua, who graduated from the University of AZ in Tucson in 2019 and is attending Northeastern University School of Law where she is set to graduate in May 2022 and is planning a career in fiduciary litigation.

Other survivors are his stepson, A. J. (Lucille) Larson, and his granddaughter, Ayjae Larson.

A celebration of Bennie’s wonderful life will be held at a later date. His family may be reached at: Cathy Bua, 537 N. Jay, Chandler AZ  85224, 480-899-2933; Cynthia Bua, 602-448-1372, and Bella Bua, 480-244-8813
