Tammy Lee Bates

Tammy Lee Bates

, 59, was promoted to heaven on August 8, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Tammy was born to the late Kenneth and Arlene Durning, an Air Force Sgt and a homemaker respectively, in Amarillo, TX on July 31, 1959.  She graduated from Chandler High and went on to work for the Chandler Unfied School District for over 25 years at Sanborn Elementary School. Tammy was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend William H (Bill) Bates, on December 21, 1996 in Tempe, AZ. Tammy was a Master Quilter, her many quilts have blessed many who were sick and/or were in the hospital. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. While gentle and soft spoken, Tammy knew when to confront, and how to confront people who needed a life change. Mom’s in Prayer was a group that Tammy was involved in for decades praying for the Children of Chandler. Tammy is survived by her husband, William (Bill), daughter Amy Michele, son Christopher Scott, brothers Gregory Durning, and Kenneth Durning; her grandchildren Sydnee, Cameron, Eli, Roman, Anthony, Daizey, Mathew, Lily & Brennan; great grand-daughters Scarlett and Paizleigh. Celebration services for Tammy will beheld at Bueler Chandler Mortuary, September 1, 2018, at 10:00 AM at 14 W Hulet Dr, Chandler, AZ  85225. Reverend Rick Bennett will officiate the service. Reception to follow the service at Sanborn Elementary School, 700 N Superstition Blvd, Chandler, AZ 85225.
