Tamara Kossowicz
, 64, of Gilbert, passed away on Monday, Sept 5th. She was born in Belarus, and came to the United States with her first husband Arthur Mekhanik and their son, in 1980. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Gregory, whom she lived with in Cranford, NJ. She moved to Arizona in 2003 to be with her family. She is survived by her son, Yuri, his wife Penny, and their children, Aleksander, Stella, Wyatt, Dexter, Gwendolyn and Anastasia. Her brother Michael and her sister Svyetlana still reside in Belarus. Most recently, she worked as a cashier at Chandler Regional Hospital, where she enjoyed interacting with so much of the staff and visitors on a daily basis. She was a gifted artist, an excellent cook of Russian food, especially stuffed cabbage and Holodnik(cold beet soup), which she loved to share with her family. She was a devoted dog owner and treated her Boxer Zorro like a member of the family. She was an extremely loving grandmother (Babushka) and her grandchildren loved their ‘Baba’ and enjoyed hearing her read Russian nursery rhymes and other stories. She had a great sense of humor, was extremely loving and kind, and will be greatly missed by many.
Her memorial service will be held at the Bueler Mortuary 14 W. Hulet Drive Chandler, AZ 85249 on Friday Sept 8 from 6 to 9 pm (Prayer service at 6 pm, visitation hours after).
