Stephen Frank Palinsky-Hibbitts (Steve), age 75, died on June 17, 2021. Steve was born July 25, 1945 in LaMesa, Texas. He lived in San Diego, California until his senior year of high school when he moved to Chandler, AZ. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1964. After high school he enrolled in the U.S. Army. He had training at Fort Benning to become a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne and was then deployed to Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam he received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal with Valor.
After discharge from the military he and his wife Julie and young daughter Kristie bought a home in Chandler, AZ and in 1979 they had another daughter, Stephani. Steve resided in the home until his passing. He got his pilot license, loved flying planes and telling stories of where he went and how he landed. Steve spent years farming in Arizona and Texas, he would often bring home potatoes, corn, peaches and everything else they were harvesting to share with his friends and family. He loved reading, finding a new mystery author, and trading books with his friends. He later worked at Magma Engineering fabricating bullet molds where he made lifelong friends he thought of as family.
He is survived by his daughters Kristie (and Scott) Guess and Stephani (and Warren) Russell, grandchildren Cydney (Nick) and Madison, his mother Jessie Baker (Meeker), sisters Jeannean (Jack) Goss, Linda (Ron) Pierce, William (Cyndii) Hibbitts, and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his biological father Stephen Frank Palinsky, father Hayes Hibbitts, and brother John Hibbitts.
Memorial and Celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Bueler’s Mortuary 10 am Friday July 16, 2021 14 W. Hulet Drive Chandler, Arizona.
