STACEY LEE SHAFFER

On Monday, November 5, 2018, Stacey L. Shaffer, loving daughter and mother of three children passed away peacefully at home at the age of 71 after a long battle with autoimmune disease known as Stills Disease.

Stacey Lee Johnson was born on October 5, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Carl H. and Dorothy G. (Perry) Johnson. While traveling extensively with her family during her father’s Air Force career, she learned two additional languages and continued her love of travel throughout her life until settling down in the Arizona desert — a landscape she adored.

Stacey’s career in the medical and natural healthcare field spanned years. Her passion for art and sculpture led her to create beautiful pottery pieces while she researched remedies for her little-known ailment with natural health alternatives. Her expertise in billiards gained her notoriety as an honored Top Female competitor three years in a row, and she continued playing for decades just for her love of the game.

At six feet tall and hallmarked by a stylish wardrobe, a sharp wit, and a trivia expertise that could rival any Jeopardy champion, Stacey’s loved ones often described her personality as larger than life. She loved spending time with family, her close friends, and her affectionate Bichon Frise dogs, Boomer and Petey.

Stacey was preceded in death by her father, Carl. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy; her three children, Jessica, Frank, and Robert; her sister, Christy Johnson (Nevada); two aunts, Carolee Moran (Arizona) and Shirley Johnson (New York); and several grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

Flowers or donations may be made to her mother’s church, Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 East Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. Stacey will be lovingly laid to rest in the church garden. She requested no services will be held.
